Japan Forum Podcast 10 with Saori N. Katada – ‘Japan’s New Regional Reality’

Dr Bill Mihalopoulos  caught up with Professor Saori Katada to talk about her new book ‘Japan’s New Regional Reality: Geoeconomic Strategy in the Asia-Pacific.’

Dr Bill Mihalopoulos, Chief Editor of Japan Forum and lecturer for Asia Pacific Studies at UCLan spoke with Professor Saori Katada to talk about her new book.

In the podcast Professor Katada talks about why she thinks Japan is no longer a closed domestic economy; Japan’s policy shift from a mercantilist industrial game plan to a state-led liberal strategy; and why Japan’s developmental experience leaves it uniquely placed to play a pivotal role in steering the Asia Pacific region through the turbulent ongoing changes brought about by the rise of China.
