2024 SPOTLIGHT TAIWAN FESTIVAL HOME X OCEAN

The Centre of Austronesian Studies (COAST) at the University of Central Lancashire look forward to welcoming you to “2024 Spotlight Taiwan Festival: Home x Ocean” on UCLan Campus and Preston PR1 Gallery!

We have a series of cultural events including a Photography Exhibition featuring “Voices of the Cetacean” and its curated talk, as well as roundtable and lecture that revolve around the themes of whales, dolphins and our seascape!

A National Geographic documentary about Taiwan’s indigenous tribes and their links to the ocean will further conclude our day’s event. All the events are FREE.

  • Art Exhibition Period: 18 October – 5 November 2024
  • Exhibition Opening and Taiwan Festival Cultural Events: 18 Oct, 2024

*Free admission for the whole day event. Lunch catering are only reserved for registered participants. Spaces are limited, so be quick for sign-up!

* All events are generously supported by The Taiwan Ministry of Culture and its Spotlight Taiwan Culture Grant.

Together with these upcoming events, we also want to promote our “Young Talent Award for Ocean and Marine Wildlife Competition”. If you’re passionate for photography and marine wildlife or ocean-related topic, why not join the competition to win a prize of equivalent to £300? Winner of the competition will be showcasing their artwork during the exhibition, and participate the award ceremony during our 18 Oct event. We hope that through this Young Talent Award, we raise further consciousness for the youth on marine wildlife and conservation issues.
